I want to use the information that a beeper sends to the display. What I want to do is this:
When I call the beeper, I send a message to the display, so rather of seeing the message, I want to read the message to a PC.

Any suggestions?

It depends upon the pager and its support system. Some pager services will simultaneously broadcast to an e-mail address. Some pagers have an infrared port that can beam to a nearby PC with a compatible IR receiver, others are Bluetooth enabled and can communicate with any other BT device. Some older pagers have a cradle that connects the pager to a serial port. If you're just trying to view the pager message without any further processing you can always use a cheap webcam that views the pager screen and displays it on your PC.

Thank you for your help!
I want to use the data, not just to see it..
Do you have more info?

Thanks,

What type of data are you interested in? The level of service depends primarily on who you get your pager from as well where you are located. Best bet is to do the basic data search and ask the carriers if they can provide a Bluetooth or IrDA enabled pager with application software to transmit the data to your PC.

is not easy to get the info directly from the bus running to the the LCD, first you have to know what kind of transmission is using the LCD it may be 4, or 8 bits (plus 2 or 3 pins for signalling) or serial trans.

sometimes the chip controls the LCD, so it will be hard to get the info. usually LCD´s are driven by their own microcontroller and other chip send the info to it.

what youre trying to do is used frequently to put info into Publiks (electronic visual devices or signboards). sometimes beepers are allowed to have one pin to transmit serial data to other devices, may you contact the manufacturer and ask directly or search for a beeper with those characteristics, ask to any publik developer or ask to a beeper company to get the service.
