Nice to see you in here wdmax! You bet me to this place. I am the one that thought that we could use a forum where we could learn (and teach) about LabVIEW. So I asked Dave (he who decides) to let us have an own forum - and here it is!

I am a beginner with LabVIEW myself. And I am sorry that I am not able to answer your question. But, I have a question myself:

I am running 7.0 Express and I have a DaqCard 6024 installed in my computer. Problem: I cannot see the 6024 in my list of devices. F5 (refresh) doesn't help and there are so many options and submenues that I feel totally lost.

I guess that I am overlooking something obvious, but what is it? Or - isn't the 6024 supported by the 7.0 system? (I bought the card and the system as a bundle, so it should work). NI support doesn't seem to understand my question. I feel real dumb when I phone them. So I try this instead. After all, Eng-Tips has worked very well before.

hi,

LabVIEW is very easy to start working with it. Don't worry.
try out :

I ve used labview for my final graduate engineering project. it is highly intuitive. Try to work out a good presentation of the diagrams and a comprehensive design, by complying with textbook guidelines for software optimization and good practices just at the beginning stage of the programming, because later you will find these efforts convenients when the program gain in size.

There is a book, but it is in French: "Labview, programmation applications", F. Cottet.
Regards

Thanks,

I shall study those sites when I come back home Friday. Star for you.

thanks Rafik and skogsgurra ^_^

I hope this board takes off as well.

skogsgurra, I don't use LabVIEW that much myself, but our lab tech does. We also use 7.0 Express. My guys says you can see all the DAQ cards installed by the following:

File> New> CTRL+E (brings up a Block Diagram window) > RMB> Input> DAQ Assist.

Hope that helps.

Have you read faq731-376 to make the best use of Eng-Tips Forums?

Thanks MadManGo,

I am away from that particular computer right now. Will test real soon.

skogsgurra,

You should also be able to see it in MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer). There should be a link to it created on your desktop during install. It should show all connected devices.

Please see FAQ731-376 for tips on how to make the best use of Eng-Tips.

Check out NI's own website...go to "developer zone"...I started using Labview last year and I haven't looked back, the aforementioned site was invaluable

skogsgurra,

The DAQ card should show up in MAX (Measurement Automation Explorer) under Devices and Interfaces.

To all:

Hope I can be of help here, it is good to see a LV Forum!!!Have sporadic experience with LabView v3, 5, 6, 7. Currently using 7.1 Professional Developer Suite.

NI's Developer Zone is very useful, searchable, and when I post there I usually get good advice/feedback within a day or 2.
