Ladies/Gentlemen,
I am presently working in Luanda Angola as a Resident Engineer on a construction Project. The Contractor has submitted Mill Test Certificates in order to verify if the reinforcing steel Ø 20mm and Ø32mm satisfies the requirements of BS 4449 Grade 460.
In terms of the Geometric Properties, Mechanical Properties and Chemical Properties all the results are satisfactory. However on the Test certificate of Steel from Spain, the result for the Bend-Rebend test is stated as “B” which I have no idea what that signifies. Also on steel from Brazil the result for the Bend-Rebend Test is shown as “Y”. Could anyone explain what “B” and “Y” signify? Has the test passed or not?
I am familiar that the results for such a test is usually stated as “OK” or “Passed” or “No visual sign of Cracking”.
Thank you all.
Joe.
