hey guys

i am trying to create a sheet of 0.5mm plastic that i can bend around a single line in a Solidworks Assembly, in order to render different angles of it.

much like a sheet metal bend, except to have the ability to continually bend it in an assembly.

mucho appreciated for any response :)

cheers

anoush

It's not completely clear to me what you are trying to achieve. That said, using configurations through a design table is pretty simple if all you are doing is changing the angle of a bend.

Create the part as 2 separate parts with the bend line acting as a hinge for mating purposes. Simple mate relations will keep it flexible....or as said use a design table to define the angles needed. I think 2 simple extrusions with a coincident edge mate.

On the rare occasions that I need to model a living hinge, I model the main parts as separate bodies. Then I add a "move" feature to allow one body to change position. Finish off with a membrane built between the two bodies, constructed in a way that accomodates expected motion.

From there, I can configure the part for multiple positions.
