Bent pipe shall have a minimum center line radius not less than 5 times the nominal pipe size.
is this sentence need to be added in document PIPING DESIGN ARRANGEMENT CRITERIA
in other words, what's the importance of this and what is the requirements for radius center line bases on previous experiences

as I am in this field more than 20 years, I have to say 5D bend is one of Ds bends, there are many Ds bends, 3D 4D 7D 10D etc....
3D now included in B16.9, so we don't qute "bend" any more. Hot induction bending is used to apply on CS materials, for SS material most are in cold bending option.

There are many mills can produce 5D bend just like what they did for 1.5D, it is called mandrel bending. If project need an tangent length at both ends, we choose hot induction bending process, heat cycle is continues, no stop from beginning to the end.
