FBE is an excellent corrosion coating. Having said that, environment, surface preparation, thickness, application personnel, protection during lowering in, etc will ultimately determine how well it performs in the long run.

Choice of anti corrosion coating also depends on pipe temperature, factory or field application and numerous other factors, but FBE is now the default base coating for most buried pipelines. However, your question is so broad that it is difficult to answer easily. Many people on this forum have experience of protection against corrosion, some very experienced, but it would help if you were a little more specific.

Just remember the best coating in the world will fail if the surface preparation is poor and the personnel inexperienced.

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way
