I would like to know the best scenarios to use Nylon and PTFE as ball valve seats.
I know the different temperature range of both of them but, what about corrosion?, are good enough to use them in ball valves installed in lines with oily water as fluid?.
Thanks for all of your collaboration and best regards,
Jorge

hi jorge
PTFE seats are widly used for ball valve seats.
For oily water service if the pressure is not to high PTFE will work fine. (usually wthout considerinf temp. Class150 and Class300 valves are widely used with PTFE seats)

we are talking about class 600. The temperature is around 140ºF.
and what about Nylon performance?.
Do you know any good webpage to look through it and know more about these kinds of materials and their performances depending on the fluid is passing through them?
thanks,
jorge

Floater Type
PTFE is OK size <=4" (Nylon swells with water therefore Floater type might create high torque problem)

Trunnion Type
Nylon is better for every sizes for 140 F Service. (Nylon is stronger and valve will last longer) as a seal use Viton Oring)
