best way to engrave alphanumerics

Can any one tell me the best, efficient and timesaving method to engrave alphanumerics on any component (solid or sheet) in modeling.

If you're asking the fastest way to model text in UG, then at this point in time, it's by using Wiedemann Engineering's True Type UG. Home page:

About $1,000 for one seat.

Now, before going that far, you should know that UG will be adding modeled text as a standard modeling function. Don't expect it to be much in NX3, but as it matures, it should be quite robust.
