Do these exist? Basically I'm looking for a pump that will flow one way when you spin the shaft CW and another when you spin it CCW, at similar pressure both directions. This is for a hydraulic actuator application, 200 psi max. (spin the pump CW-- actuator extends, spin pump CCW-- cylinder retracts).

A hydraulic relay will do this as well switching inlet and outlet and allows you to use any type of pump...

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

If you need something you can spin by hand, try googling for a "helm pump" (or looking for one at somewhere like - these do what you're asking for, and come with integrated reservoir and a valve package to prevent the pump motoring in response to a load on the actuators.

Parker makes DC motor/pump packages which are bi-directional. Some recreational vehicles use this to power hydraulic systems with extend and retract cylinders.
