Biomass logic

it's a three ring circus.

you might have thought that carbon offsetting might mean planting more trees ...
but then you'd be "wrong".

sigh

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?

I said something in a thread some weeks or months ago about how many of the "green policies" adopted by various governments to reduce carbon emisions in their countries actually increase the amount of carbon released..... It just shifts the locations where the carbon is released and introduces necessary transportation.

Biomass really has nothing to do with climate change engineering solutions. Biomass is nothing more than a "renewable fuel". And probably one of the poorest ones at that. It is only a possible substitute for burning something other than a fossil fuel. Everyone realises this and admits that biomass being included under subsidies was a mistake. The only one continuing to perpetuate this big lie is the American company making the pellets, Enviva.

And that transportation in this case is across an ocean with land transport at both ends. The scheme only makes sense to people like John Kerry.

Carbon offsetting.
