Blanketing Valves Location

Hello,
Why are most Blanketing valves physically installed directly on the head of tank.

Can I install it -
lets say at Some place else and then have long pipelines to the top of the tank.
Is there any reason except space requirements.
E.g.. Can I but my PRV very close to Nitrogen source and then have 10meter pipe going to the top of tank or can I install a long 10 meter pipeline from tank exit before my backpressure regulator.

Possibly misinformed guess, but I've always assumed its because of the (relatively) low pressures involved. It's easiest to just have the regulator sensing the tank pressure near the tank versus relying on an external tap or something more complicated.

Yes, because the low pressure gas, typically a few mbar, needs a much larger pipe than the gas at 5 bar..

Plus much better control via a short sensing line or no pressure drop between valve and tank

Yes, you can do this but you have to check that pressure drop ( from tank to PRV) during design case relief event is within acceptable limits for the type of protected equipment and the type of PRV and any applicable Code requirements. It may be necessary to lower the setting of the PRV and / or increase the line size in some cases to keep this pressure drop within built up backpressure limits. If you do lower the PRV setting, check that max normal operating line pressure does not result in PRV simmer.

Tank roof is the highest point while control valves shall assure free draining. If you locate valves below tank how are you going to route CV downstream piping downward to a vapor space nozzle?
