Dear All,
I need to calculate the thickness of a paddle blank/spacer for a high-pressure pipe line. This piece will be connected to a vessel nozzle with a customized pattern. The supplier's drawing states that the pressure class is 10000 psi and the groove of the joint is standard BX-159. Although this information refers to the API 6A standard, all the other dimensions of the flange do not comply with API. My question is whether ASME B31.3, section 304.5.3 can be used to calculate the thickness of the paddle blank, bearing in mind that there is nothing in API that specifically deals with calculating wall thicknesses for blanks. I would really appreciate it if anyone could contribute some experience on this subject.
Regards.
