On a vessel we are designing we will be using a blind flange on one end. Being a novice at ASME VIII division 1, I am left uncertain as to what paragrahps I should look to when calculating whether the blind flange we have designed will be sufficient for the intended duty.

Any advice on where to look?

Pressure Vessel Handbook (Megyesy) and Pressure Vessel Desgin Manual (Moss) will give a guide for solving this design using ASME VIII DIV: 1 rules (UG34-UG35)

UG-34 gives you all you need to design the bolted cover.

MotorMan12, is it perhaps a standard blind such as B16.5? If so see UG-44.
