I want to create a Standard Box Note as a Block in which the leader can come from the left or right, and in which the text within the Box Note can be modified. Is this doable?

Since I am new to SW, maybe there is a better way...?

You can create a Note and modify the Leader and Border properties in the Property Manager on the left.

Then you can add the Note to your Design Library.

I find it easier to edit the Notes if necessary, then messing with Blocks.

I create Blocks for items that require sketched line entities, such as a Grain Direction note where I have sketch geometry of an arrow grouped with the annotation 'GRAIN DIRECTION'.

Ditto to Anna's suggestion. I briefly experimented with using them for drawing notes, and they really are a pain when using them for annotation notes.

I think if you make a block and add text to it you can add "Attributes" to the text and its much easier to edit that text if you need too. If you need to move the Geometry around that's a different sorry. But if you have an item that never changes other then the text I would recommend a Block.
