Bodies in impact and explicit dynamics analyses won't make contact

I am new to Nastran and are having trouble with these analyses, I am looking for the cylindrical body to impact and penetrate the rectangular solid but it appears from the results that the cylinder stops before it makes contact.



I have tried changing the surface contact settings but have not found anything which works and looking at the small amount of guides online suggests that this type of setup should be very straightforward but I just cannot get this to work.

What version of Nastran and what solution sequence are you using?

These type of analyses are typically performed in Abaqus or LS-Dyna.
