Hi all,
I am looking for the information of boiler startup and shutdown procedure and the integrity of boiler interm of corrosion. Can anybody give an idea where i can get those material/information?
I am currently doing a survey for boiler that normally used on the FPSO(Floating,Production,Storage and Offloading) vessel. Is it those boiler they used on the FPSO and on the onshore the same?

Thanks in advance. Cheers,

Robo..

Initial boiler startup typically involves a "boil-out" with chemicals such as TSP, followed by a "steam blow" where all debris is cleaned from the boiler and associated air piping.

Boiler shutdowns can be for either short or extended periods with the boiler being put into a "hot standby" condition or possibly cooled, drained and put into a nitrogen blanketfor longer term storage.

The best source of information is the boiler vendors themselves.

What, in English does "the integrity of boiler interm of corrosion" mean ?

Robo, where are you located and where will this offshore boiler be located ?

If this is a marine boiler they are designed just a little differently to stationary boilers because they have to be able to accomoodate the motion potential of marine vessels.

That said, with respect to start up and shut down and lay up and storage, there would be no difference. One would have to take the same precautions for either type.

You haven't said how long the boiler would be out of service when shut down. If it is for extended periods, you should completely drain it (hopefully it is a drainable model) and nitrogen blanket the internals. Also you would want to put a dehumidifier on the gas side.

If it is for short periods, that is a little overkill. You would have to specify how long it would be shut down to get a better answer.
