Good Evening All,

Has anyone had experience with making repairs to boilers located in Russia.

The equipment is already in-service and has all the necessary GOST certification from its manufacture and initial entry into Russia; however, I have been unable to determine if there is a jurisdictional body which is concerned with the repair of boilers.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

What kind of boiler? Most likely, the boiler OEM would have been involved with repairs because I know several boiler OEM tech folks that are currently performing commissioning work in Russia, and overseeing boiler repairs on an as-needed basis.

My suggestion for weld repair guidance of boilers is to use the National Board Inspection Code, NB-23.

The boilers in question are power boilers.

We are in fact a boiler fabricator/repair company so we do currently hold S, U, PP, NB and R stamps; so I am familiar with the process and requirements for boiler repair as they apply within the US and the EU countries. Our difficulty however has been in establishing if the Russian Federation has a jurisdictional body with oversight of boiler repairs.

Having fabricated new equipment in the past bound for Russia I became familiar with the GOST certification process and the standards to which Russian bound equipment must be manufactured. Repairs of these items though typically falls within a different set of standards and codes (much like the relationship between ASME and NBIC.

Essentially what I am trying to determine is "does there exist a jurisdictional body within Russia tasked with ovesight of boiler repair".

Thanks for your input.

Rostechnadzor (RTN) formerly Gosgortechnadzor (GGTN)is the Russian government agency responsible for plant certification.

If your OS is computer not set-up for Cyrillic then the link will not work (anyway mine doesnt!) but if you Google Rostechnadzor you will find many websites of Western companies experienced in obtaining RTN certification.

Good luck
