I am trying to find out the valid reasons of thermal efficiency of a coal fired Power Boiler, determined by Indirect Heat Loss Method (ASME PTC 4.1) is 1 - 2 % higher than that calculated by simple Output/Input Direct Method. Our experience is, the two methods differ by about 1.75% where direct method shows lower efficiency number
