Dear All

We have a number of utility boilers of varying ages and are in the process of rationalising boiler tube stocks. I would like your opinions on the most commonly used boiler tube standards. The ones we are currently considering are:

ASTM standards (A192,A209,A213)
ISO standards (ISO9329-2 and 4)
British Standard (BS3059-2)
European Standard (??)

Thanks

In the power generation facility that I work at, ASTM is used as virtually all US plants use this standard.

I think you will find that all BS and ISO standards have been effectively replaced by EuroNorm EN12952.

As international power consultants we accept tubes to all of the standards you mention providing the design complies with all the asociated standards.

For example, in the pasr we have obviously accepted ASTM tubes in boilers designed to ASME section 1 but not ASTM tubes in boilers designed to BS unless it was one of those ASTM materials for which there are design stresses specifically stated in BS.
