Hello,

Please help!!

My Glow Worm Economy Plus domestic boiler makes an extremely loud whistling noise when is fires up. It is flume vented and only mkes this noise when the external temperature drops below about 10 deg C. I have checked all visible parts - are there any internal moving parts (apart from the water!!) which could make this noise or is it the air passing the exchanger fins? Any ideas anyone???

cheers - Plug

Could be that a colder temperatures the outside air is denser, so upon entering the boiler expands, producing a higher linear velocity in the combustion exhaust.
