Bollard Distance to edge of the protected foundation/structure

Does anyone know of any recommandation when you use bollards how far they have to be set from the founfdation of the structure we want to protect?
What would be a good number for distance for a 6" dia. 7'-0" long sch 40 pipe (ASTM grade B) fill with concrete pipe that goes in the 18 dia concrete to support it?
4' of bollard sticking out and 3' ins embeded.

I'd take a look at bollard test impact data and see how far the vehicle typically projects past the bollard.

Thank you very much that was an eye opening pic.
My case is we are trying to protect the mast of an rack pinion elevator in a plant
I was woried heavy trucks and loaders may bump or hit the elevator. Also I dont know how far apart from each other they should be?

TME - Neat photo, gives new meaning to "wrap-around-bumper".

SKJ25POL - If you are inside the plant building you may have to compromise due to limited space. At least the impact speed should be lower than outside. Maybe locate the bollards 6 feet from the mast, and space them just close enough together so that a truck or loader cannot effectively pass between bollards. Say, a spacing of 2/3 the width of the smallest vehicle. Just a matter of opinion, really.

if you don't find anything you could use this to move on.... FHWA recommends guardrail posts be 3' minimum from retaining walls. the Redirock std detail is here
