Does anyone recognize the following bolt head identification:

A large central "F" surrounded by 12 equally spaced radial dashes?

I don't recognize it off hand. However, when I had a similar question, I found the answer by contacting my local Fastenal distributor. Their catalog listed several head markings and luckily one of them was one I was looking for.

The other option would be to contact you local steel fabricator, they may know.

It's not listed in my list of reqistered logos as Feb 2003.
What type bolt is it and what's intended use as the only "F" head, without the radials, was for a car restoration parts supplier.

There have been several manufacturers that poduced a fastener that was called various by names, "super 8, super alloy, grade 9, and others" but carried a tensil strentgth of around 175,000 psi. They all carried fancy head markings, more than the 8's 6 lines.

The "F" appear to be, the markings are manufacture identifiers.
NIST is responsible for registering all bolt head markings since the Fastener Law took effect. For a free pdf copy of their most current list, you may go to
Anouther site for fastener marking:
Check, MIL-STD-1291A
