Hi,

I have got a bolted joint in NX 8.5.

I have applied only the bolt preload and kept the friction coefficient as 0.

See attached gif image file, the bolts deform to enormoud magnitude without friction. I did not expect so. I expected wthout friction effect there might just be tenmsile elongation of the shank of the bolt. Why does this happen?

NExt, I gave a friction coefficeint as 0.3.See this image

The deformations I believe were ok. I sed sol 101.

Can anyone provide insight why were the deformations so enormous without friction coefficient?

I think you always should apply some friction. If not, the smallest force can have a huge effect.
But can you explain how you apply a preload on a bolt. I have no preload and use a friction of 1 but that give kind of the same results as you have.

I use NX8.5
