Hi,
I would like to get your comments on bolting use in mechanical seals on HF applications.
For many years the material by default has been Monel for all mechanical seal metal parts including collar set screws, cap screws, etc.
There have been reports of Monel bolts-especially high-strength Monel K-500-can experience stress corrosion cracking even in the presence of trace HF (monel bolts in flanges).
API751 specialists have recommended us to change the pump casing studs from monel to B7M in order to prevent this type of stud failure.
Now We are looking if this also should apply to bolting part of the mechanical seals.
Thanks in advance for your comments.
