Hello guys,

I’m going to buy bolts & nuts for flanges regarding to a hydrotest we have to do. I find which type of stud bolts and nut we need in b16.5.

Just could you please suggest me a sample long description for bolt and nuts to put in the purchase order?

Thanks.

H Cameron it is likely each organization does it a little differently. I recommend you get with your buyers and get a "go by" P.O. from the recent past.

Failing that, something like diameter, thread pitch, length, material and quantity will probably suffice.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Typical Spec for carbon steel might be
Studs ANSI A193 Grade B7 or BS 4882 Grade B7.
Nuts ANSI A194 Grade 2H or BS 4882 Grade 2H

Then order as

12 off Studs c/w 2 nuts 1-1/2" x 250mm long

Here's how we order them
(1x) SA193 B8-CL2 TFO 1/2" X 70 STUDBOLT +
(2x) SA194 GR.8-CL-2 TFO 1/2"-13UNC NUTS
*) TFO = Teflon Coated

KevinNZ & XL83NL have just proved my point :)

In view of KevinNZ's reply, it's good he's not active in this topic wrt his ANSI nuts [flush3].
