I am using SW2007. Does anyone know how to overide the quantity in an excell based BOM and have SW retain the changes. We use materials in our assemblies, like solder and flux, that I would like to show up on our BOM as AR (As Required). I currently just save a blank part with our material part number and insert that into our assembly, so the quantity shows up as 1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Tools – Options – Document Properties – Detailing – Bill of Materials "Uncheck" Automatic update of BOM

And then force revise the quantity in excel based BOM to A/R ( as required)

reilly22,
Add these "AR" parts to the very top of your parts list where SW ends automatic parts count. At anytime, do not aggravate (sounds funny...bear with me…) the SW excel BOM by adding these "AR" to the beginning or inserting them anywhere (between parts) in the BOM. It will wipeout all your additions when it does an automatic update. But seems to stay put when your additions are added to the end of the BOM.

I hope I didn't confuse you.
