Hello everyone, i'm a software engineer and lately i wanted to read about mechanics. My first interest is motors, energy and mechanic automations (ex how to measure the power of an electrical motor).

I have zero experience on the sector so i'm going to need some books to start up.

Thank you

Having been an avid collector of books on electricity and electric motors since childhood, beginning with titles
such as “A First Electrical Book For Boys”, your request is a daunting one.

In spite of all the advances in electro-mechanical devices since Faraday’s discovery
of “magneto-electric” induction of currents made in the autumn of 1831… an electric motor works
today the same way it did when the electro-magnetic action was first discovered.

Thousands of book titles exist now. To recommend one or even 43 would not really help you because
you have to find authors that write in a way that you understand and get something from.

If you want to jump in with both feet and get to it - "Electric Machinery Fundamentals" by Chapman is a desktop staple, and if you get bored with that - try "Power Systems Analysis" by Hadi/Saadat. The latter is especially useful if you are looking to write power analysis code, etc. Stay away from the IEEE color books as they are riddled with errors and don't convey squat.
