Dear All,

I´m modelling a 3D thread with the helix. When I execute the command "Slot" (previously I´ve defined the insert sketch and the Helix command)appears an error as follows:

Boolean Operator: Highlighted element can not be cut. Highlighted element can not be cut: check its tangency contacts. Modify body´s contacts (use contraints, split or extrude one of the body).

I´m quite new using CATIA and I could not found the solution.

What shoud I do to solve it?

I appreciate any help!

Could be many things that cause that error. Such as the thread is shorter than the screw body. A picture might help us figure out the exact problem.

Hi,
Please try changing the cross section ( profile ) so that it cuts the solid perfectly. All the best.

Make sure the sketch for the slot goes beyond the solid so that there's not a mutual "sliver" of material. In other words the solid being cut through and the sketch should not meet at a common line. The slot should "overlap" the solid. See below. Is this what's causing the issue? Please upload an image of the geometry and the error message. Thank you.
