Dear All,
I have a ongoing question regarding the boron content in carbon steel, and how it affects the weldability.
Sometimes there is a 8ppm threshold that is reported as the limit for certain pre-heat requirements, or for pre-qualified steel in certain standards, notch tensile strength behavior. Although the number, 8ppm, is a recurrent one, I cannot find any scientific evidence and study that explains the figure.
Are you aware of any publication on this regard (that specifically address the 8ppm value) ?
Thanks,
Paolo
