Hi, all,

I am designing a 17-story high concrete building.
The lot is small, and the two stairwells and the elevator shaft are all located on one side of the building (right side), which caused very heavy load on the right side. The soil capacity is 6 kips per square foot, but the soil pressure on the right side reached 11 kips per square foot.
I'm considering to use mat foundation for the whole building but use several piles on the right side under the mat foundation.

Does anybody use this kind of combination before?
How do you model in SAFE?

Thank you very much!

That's very interesting. I have almost an identical situation and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do. What did you end up doing?

Use point springs to model piles.

Use soil properties under the rest of the MAT.
