I am working on a survey where the property corners on a recorded plat are labeled "Pointers - Found." Does anyone know what a Pointer is? I am not able to find it in any surveying references. Survey was done in the early sixties.

I ran into this term while retracing an original warrant (1700's) in rural Pennsylvania. We determined that it referred to witness trees or other reference points which "pointed to" the corner. This seems like an unlikely term to be used in a 1960's subdivision though. What area of the country are you in?

Thank you for your response. This survey was done in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. I was able to speak with a local surveyor in that County and he verified your interpretation of the term.
