BP Engineer Arrested

I talked to one of the guys I used to work with and he said that the arrest was BS. The guy that was arrested was cleaning up redundant e-mails and every single deleted e-mail contained information that was duplicated in another e-mail that was kept (you know, when you reply in Outlook it includes the original in the response, after 30-40 responses you have a lot of copies of the original e-mail).

I'm betting that this never goes to trial and quietly disappears unless the guy files a defamation suit against the government.

He apparently was, as was everybody I imagine, told not to delete any emails. Duplicate or not, evidence is evidence, and may hold some key to who knew what and when. If you can't follow simple instructions like that... well, what can I say.

Actually the interesting part for me was the flowrate mentioned in the mail he deleted. Those numbers were the ones I came up with, not based on flow calculations at all, just the simple fact that nobody would be drilling in that water depth for anything less than 100 KBOPD anyway. "Follow the money."

Hopefully they will let this sacrificial lamb go and ultimately get to the "real purpetrators". But... somehow or other, I don't expect it to happen.

What would you be doing, if you knew that you could not fail?

We have entered the "punishment of the innocent" stage.
