Are there any standard control methods that are used to apply the stopping brake of a fan?

Thanks Liam

Helicopter rotors have parking brakes, but I'm not aware of another fan-like device that does.

I could have missed a meeting, I suppose.

Hi Mike,
Sorry I should have mad my question more clear. I was meaning the brake that brings the fan to rest and then we would apply the parking brake to hold it there.

Thanks Liam

What sort of fan are you dealing with, that needs a service brake and a parking brake?
