Hai

In ASTM A 234 allows the fusion welding process in the fabrication process of fittings. I have the doubt, the standards saying longitudinal weld joints only allowed or the Circumferential weld joints are also allowed?

Here i have received some fittings for my customer they questioned me the branch extension is welded. it's not allowed they are saying.

SIZE : DIA 750 SCH STD X DIA 450 mm SCH STD TEE

Dear RAM,

Isn't there something A234W (where W stands for welded)?
Check the standard, the purchase order then talk to the customer.

Per ASME SA 234, either welded or seamless fittings are permitted. There is no restriction on circumferential or long seam welds as long as the customer specification allows it and the code of construction allows it.

Thanks for the answer the customer accepted with R.T confirmation.
