Break-out section of a non-sectioned part

As the attached image shows, I've got a non-sectioned pin in a sectioned cylinder. I'd like to avoid sectioning the entire pin, but break a portion of it out to show where a set screw will go. Is something like this even possible, or can I not get it to work because of the non-sectioned status?

Yep, non-sectioned means exactly what it says.
