We have planned to install a LED fixture Model: VMV7L with an inrush current of 49.2 A. The duration of the inrush current is between 368 µs – 624 µs.

I'm yet to decide on number of LED fixtures to be connected in one circuit.

Say, if I connect 10 fixtures in one circuit, approximately 500A of inrush would be there when the breaker is turned ON.

The TCC curve of the EATON breaker is attached. Does the shaded portion in the TCC curve mean the "Minimum Interrupting time" of the breaker at the instantaneous portion?

My concern is the nuisance tripping of breaker for the Inrush current.
Will the breaker not trip because of sensing such a high inrush current value because the duration is way below the 0.001 sec.?

Kindly give your thoughts.

The curve shows the total clearing time of the breaker as a whole. For magnetic trip, once the breaker is tripped, there is some time required for the breaker contacts to actually open and for the arc to be extinguished. But once it starts to trip, it will trip - there's no stopping it.

I don't think the time current curve is going to really answer your question. You need to talk with Eaton. This electromechanical trip mechanism requires a certain amount of energy to actually pull in the solenoid. It's not clear if this short duration would trip it, but it's possible.

But it's possible that your inrush will be less than you are predicting due to the inductance and resistance in the circuit.

Cheers,

Dave
