Shot in the dark, is it possible to do a breakout view where you can cut out a certain component of an assembly? Or, Hide Component in View but only in a specified area to show something under it?
I'm trying to show a bracket that's hidden under a shield in an Isometric view. I've attached some files for anybody who might know if or how it's done.

Should be possible. You just place the 3D position of the breakout view Behind the component you don't want to see. It should cut right through it.

Other that component visible in view you can always utilize view dependent editing too

I was hoping there was a way to do it in the 2D drawing. Again, shot in the dark.

its not difficult if the shield and the model to be shown are components . ( -or does this work regardless ?)

1) create the Break out section view. Make sure it cuts down through the object obscuring the detail to be shown.
The "Indicate base point" is the depth of the cut.
2) edit the view ( Right click - Edit) In the bottom of the dialog there is "non sectioned " -select the detail to be shown.
3) Update the view.

And there it is. Thank you Toost!
