Just curious how everybody attaches their brick veneer anchors to concrete backing, and whether they get the cracked concrete approved anchors. The code is silent on the requirements except that the veneer would be under Chapter 13 of ASCE 7-10, which requires all anchors to conform to chapter 17 of ACI or be preapproved for seismic as post installed anchors. But the masonry code indicates that the attachment to wood backing just needs to be done with an 8d common nail as a minimum.
I have specified a seismically qualified screw anchor, but I get asked on every job to go to something less stringent, so I was seeing what everybody else does out there.
