I am currently putting an RFQ together for a Bridge crane in a Petrochem facilty. Does anyone have suggestions for manufacturers that could supply a 10 to 18 ton bridge crane? I need someone who can provide a top running and/or underslung crane. This would be supported off of an existing building frame. Also, as an added requirement there is a need for a Class 1 Division 2 Group B NEC compliant crane... Intrinsically safe in an Hydrogen service area. The NEC Classification seems to be the sticking point with these guys... I might as well be speaking Greek to them.

Usually in most larger cities, there a at least a few local crane dealers/representatives that work with engineers early in the design process. These dudes usually provide up front info, specs, wheel reactions, etc.

Try calling some crane manufacturer's main offices (via google) and ask for local reps.

I'd try Morris Material Handling formerly a division of Harnischfeger, or any other member of CMAA. The last crane I saw manufactured by a local fab shop was of marginal quality, but that doesn't have to be the case.

Another issue is your building structure. If it needs reinforcing there's the possibility of all this becoming a significant project.

Texas crane builders would not have a problem helping you.

Gaffey, Proserv would be a great start. Sometimes air, in lieu of electric, is the answer in hazardous areas.
