I am designing a pedestrian bridge. It is a one-simple span bridge, with tube (HSS) trusses supported on 4 elastomeric bearing pads.
The bearing pads are subject to water (rain and snow).
Is this possible? Do we have to protect the bearing pads from water, to maintain dry condition?

No. The base plates, masonry plates, anchor rods, etc should be painted or galvanized.

I agree with the above - for the elastomeric pads, they are exposed to the elements - but remember, they are much smaller than the beam that they are supporting so they will really have "cover" to the elements other than for temperatures.
