Hi All,

After weld repairing a pressure vessel in caustic service here, Brinell hardness readings were taken in the weldmetal, HAZs, and base metal on the inside of the vessel. I have not observed the size of the indentions but regardless, I suspect it may be best to grind these out due residual stress and caustic environment. Any thoughts here?

Thanks,
Bob

There is no need to do anything regarding these superficial indentations.

metengr is right. No need to grind out the slight dent from the ball indenter. If we have to grind these then us in the oil and gas sector would be in big trouble cause we do many production hardness testing for all welds in sour service for God know how long.

Again,

Both of you guys, I appreciate your help and owe you many!!! Have a great memorial Day weekend.
