Broken view problem

I have a assembly drawing of a long object where i use broken view. I need to be able to change the length of the assembly and get updated drawings but my broken views does no longer show the relevant section of the assembly. Can i make broken view stay on right place regardless of length?

You need to use the anchor points in the broken view in order to show the right geometry when the view is updated after a model change.

I have tried to use the anchor points as you suggested but i still have problems. My broken views grows in length but i want them always to stay in same size. This leds to the error "Cannot move view off of the drawing".

Set the anchor on something that stays in the view, example a shaft where you want to show only the ends, set the anchor on one of the arc centers of the end in each view. Those points should stay fixed on the drawing.
Note the associativity, try pick some object that exists on all variants. ( do not select an object that only exists in the current variant.)

I dont know what i am doing wrong but it does not work. I make a rectangle and anchor it to something that stays in the view. When i update with new length one corner of the rectangle goes far away.

I have been trying to solve this with detail view but i dont know how to get a nice break line between the details.

I have attached a little demo in NX6 format, have a look at how the broken views are set up. Change the model total length and it should update.

Toost, thank you very much. I managed to get the same problem with your demofiles but i think i know how to avoid it.

When adding a break region its kind of difficult to get a nice, lets say rectangle, around the area. So i have been moving the boundary points to make it look nicer on the screen. There seems to be no problem before i move the boundary points.

Can you please try move the boundary points on your break region in your demo to make the straight lines perpendicular to each other and make a big change in total lenght to see if you get the same problem?

All of you should be happy to know that in the next version of NX there will be no need for 'drawing rectangles' or other selection intensive operations when creating a 'Broken View', but rather you will simply select the locations between which will be that portion of the view that you wish removed (as shown in the video below):

Why do you want to move the boundary points ?
The view boundary will not plot or export to pdf, if it looks bad on the screen turn off the view boundary. ( Preferences - Drafting - View - Display Borders.

In case the view boundary matters, you can draw the boundary and use these curves for the region. Set the view to active sketch view and sketch around the area, remember to constrain relative the end of the shaft such that the sketch members move when the shaft length changes. Pick the endpoints of the sketch lines when defining the broken view area. ( - Should work...

No i do not need to move the boundary point but the first thing i did was trying to make it look a little better with straight lines. I had no idea moving the points would make the update with new length all messed up.

Now that you made me aware of that the boundary does not plot its ok. Thanks for your help.
