BS & API Valve Testing Equivilancy

My mind is spinning in circles. I am requisitioning valves, some designed to API standard, and some to BS standard. When it comes to production pressure testing, I am having trouble understanding the requirements and testing equivilants. Client has specified testing per the applicable design standards (i.e. API testing for API valve, BS testing for BS valve). The main question I am trying to answer is: is API testing criteria (e.g.API598) an acceptable alternative to the respective BS testing criteria (e.g.EN12266-1)?

Here is an example of what I have found through researching the standards:
BS 1873 - Globe/Globe Stop/Check Valves
"All valves shall be pressure tested by the
manufacturer before despatch in accordance with
BS 6755-1, as follows:"

BS 6755-1 (superceded by)
EN 12266-1:2003 - Testing of Valves

"Part 1 was drawn up on the basis of International Standard ISO 5208 and Part 2 contains supplementary testing
requirements for tests, test procedures and acceptance criteria of valves."

BS ISO 5208:2008 - Pressure Testing of Metallic Valves
"Account has been taken of the valve testing requirement
needs of EN 12266 and API 598 with requirements referenced for PN designated valves for the former and
Class designated valves for the latter."

Does this circular reference imply that API598 is acceptable equivilant to EN 12266?
