BS EN ISO 15614-1 vs BS EN ISO 15614-8 on Tube to Tubesheet of a Boiler

Good day All.

I need some help in clarification.

There is a retube of a boiler/Steam Generator. Tubes need to be welded to tubeplate. Manufacture standard of boiler is EN 12953
Question : Which BS EN ISO 15614-1 vs BS EN ISO 15614-8 to use to qualify the procedure? and if someone says BS EN ISO 15614-8 then why cant I use BS EN ISO 15614-1 to qualify the procedure to weld the tubes to tubeplate.

Part 8 is specifically for tube to tube sheets. At first sight that makes most sense to me. What does the (original) design code have to say on this matter?

The Following was my findings.

BS EN ISO 15614-8 is for use of heat exchangers and tube bundles ( Presssure Vessel)
BS EN ISO 15614-1 Can be used for welding on steam generator tube to tubeplate. In BS EN 12953-4:2018 Paragraph 5.14.2.2 Welding Procedures Specification Refers to EN ISO 15609-1 and Paragraph 5.14.2.3 Procedure qualification records refers to EN ISO 15614-1. No where in BS EN 12953 does it mention BS EN ISO 15614-8 to be used.
 
Clear. Then how did EN ISO 15614-8 end up on your table?
PS: from a welding perspective, it doesnt really matter (that much) if the application is a boiler

The joint detail is what matters, and the technique required to achieve a sound weld. Hence, from that reasoning, part 8 seems to make more sense. But if the design code has something to say on this, follow the code.

It is:
ISO 15614-1 general
ISO 15614-8 specifally for Tube-To-TubeSheet joint.

The ranges (on materials, diameters, thickness) are quite different , many concepts are different (in 15614-1 there is the deposited thickness for process 's' which is important, while in the 15614-8 is simpler, there is just the thickness 't' of the parts, in 15614-8 there is the tube pitch, etc), they are very different standards.

I think you could use 15614-1 for everything, but because it is much more complicated, it is better to use 15614-8 just for tube-to-tubesheet
