Hello,

I have the problem, that I can not change the Element
Type Pointer (TYPE) in Ansys Classical.
Both APDL and GUI commands are not working!
Instead Ansys lists the defined element types (ETLIST)
and the point remains unchanged!

I had this problem in the past also and I know it can be
solved by deleting the database. Deleting the database was
till now no problem since I am using APDL input files.

But now I have the same problem with a DB model modeled by
another person using the GUI. I do not want to delete the
database since I don't want to remodel all by myself.

How can this problem be solved without deleting the database?

Thanks and regards
Alex

Alex,
Have you tried to CDWRITE the model and read it back in constructing a new database that way?

Thanks Stringmaker, it's a good idea but in this way I loose the relationship of the solid model and the FE model.

But I have goo news: I managed to solve the problem by restoring the toolbar!! I can't explain this, but it works for me!

One thing is sure: it is an ugly bug in Ansys!

Regards
Alex

Alex,
You should be able to maintain solid/FE model associativity via CDWRITE,COMB, option I believe.

Glad you fixed your problem!
