We've had ongoing issues with hot and cold water pipe corrosion and precipitation/build-up at our plant and we'd like to hire a 3rd party consultant, an expert in water quality as it impacts industrial piping, to investigate and make a recommendation to address these issues. We will likely ultimately work with a vendor or supplier but we want an unbiased opinion on this issue first.

Can anyone please let me know of anyone you can recommend in the private sector, government, or academia who might be able to help us out?

Make sure you have one of your young engineers bone up on the subject. The engineer can then pick the brains of the 'expert" as the study is done. You will be left with a smarter organisation.

Nalco Chemicals can provide you with water analysis and recommendation of chemical treatment. I am sure there are other chemical companies with the expertise.

Many building services facilities in Australia are turning to thermoplastics to avoid the corrosive build up and reduce the need for corrosion inhibitors. ABS, PVC-C, PP are being employed successfully.
