Hi everyone,
I am a fresher structural engineer and the company I work for has asked me to design an RC upstand for the track of a BMU (building maintenance unit) on the terrace. The RC track is specified as 500mm wide as 150mm thick for each wheel with a clear distance of 1m along the machine movement path according to shop drawings. The terrace slab itself is a hollowcore of 265mm thick. I am asked to do a calculation for the reinforcement required for this platform. the working load and the machine weights have been given by the supplier which I am attaching with the post.
Can anyone help me out with how something like this is to be designed? How do I check for the moving load and the weight of the part hanging outside the windows. And would I require to do a software model or manual calculations would be sufficient? I have only experience with basic elements design so far so this is a bit out of my league. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
