Building code requirement for toilets?

Does the code requirement for 30-inch lateral clearance and 21-inch front clearance result in box-shaped clearance, or can the corners, where the question marks are in the image below, be encroached. And if so, by how much?

30-inch lateral clearance
USABATH:
Toilet Clearances:
  • There should be a minimum of 15 inches of clearance on each side of the toilet.
With my 14 inch wide toilet I read that as a total width of 44 inches.
21-inch front clearance
With my toilet projecting 30 inches from the wall, I read that as 30" plus 21" equals 51 inches.

If you are trying to cut corners at 30" and 21", I doubt that you have a hope at 44 inches and 51 inches.

Hmmmm. Don't think the code co siders anything but square or oblong toilets.

So cutting the corners off your front wall may be allowed, but you're probably at the mercy of the particular inspector or whoever signs this off to say you've complied with the code.

If you took it literally then you can argue that it's only for the width of the toilet itself that the 21 inch front clearance applies?

So if you're working to minimums then a 15 inch angle on either corner cou.d be allowed. IMHO.
