It was determine that lightning protection is required for both the yard equipment (transformer, open busses, switchgear, etc) and the two story building housing a 69 kV GIS substation.
a) What standard is suitable to use as a guideline NFPA 780 (Standard for the Installation of Lightning Protection Systems) or the IEEE Std 998 (IEEE Guide for Direct Lightning Stroke Shielding of Substations)?
b) Any issue using different methods or standard for the yard equipment and the building considering that each lightning protection are considered independently of each other.
