Hi

I'm looking to buy a new material suitable for making bushings for sea water centrifugal pumps. I looked alot online but it is not mentioned clearly if specified materials work well for this exact application. it should be noted that centrifugal pumps have high rotating speeds.

Bushings for where exactly?
What pump style?
Please be more specific.

Shaft bearing.

I don't get what u mean by what pump style. It is just a usual sea water centrifugal pump like those used to cool marine generators.

What is a usual seawater pump?

It's a horizontal centrifugal pump of the used to pump sea water. basically I want to know what type of bronze or copper or brass bushings are used for such pumps in general.

Are you talking about shaft sleeves / stuffing box? If yes what is the current material and what is the problem?

yeah shaft sleeves. actually I want to get this material to manufacture spares for marine centrifugal pumps. it's not about a current pump that I have. I just want to know what materials are usually used for this application. I'm talking about shaft sizes up to 70mm dia.

A lot will depend on application - packed stuffing box or mechanical seals. There are any number of bronze materials if mech. seal and also used with packed glands if correctly applied and maintained otherwise move to stainless steel.

application is engine cooling, mechanical seals are used. can u narrow down some materials now?

Zinc free bronze.

Brass - NO. Might be about time you did your own research on suitable materials for seawater applications. Starting with brass in seawater.

their are suitable brasses for sea water applications. but I'm asking if they are suitable for this specific task.
